Portishead Town Secure Third Straight League Win with Confident Display at Bashley

Portishead Town continued their perfect start to the league season with a well-earned 2–0 victory away at Bashley on Bank Holiday Monday, maintaining their 100% record in the Southern League.
Returning to the starting XI after injury, striker Ethan Feltham wasted no time making an impact. Just five minutes in, his determined run down the right flank created space for a pinpoint cross, which Jack Thorne met to head to Posset into an early lead.
Feltham, Thorne, and Jay Murray combined effectively in the opening stages, suggesting a comfortable afternoon might be on the cards. However, Bashley gradually grew into the game, pushing forward with balls into the channels. Full backs Mason Winter and Aaron Robbins were kept busy but stood firm, while debutant Ollie Woodhouse impressed at centre-back alongside Hamish Hurst.
Goalkeeper Ryan Thacker had little to do in the first half, while Jay Murray came close to doubling the lead with a clever solo effort, only to be denied by Bashley keeper Lloyd Thomas.
Portishead struck again just moments after the restart. Murray’s cross was partially cleared, but Aaron Robbins headed the ball back into the danger zone, where Bashley captain Bradley Morris nodded past his own goalkeeper to make it 2–0.
With a two-goal cushion, Portishead managed the game well, despite a scrappy second half disrupted by frequent free kicks. Bashley enjoyed spells of possession but rarely threatened the Posset goal. Substitute Lucas Vowles nearly added a third, forcing another save from Thomas.
It was a resilient and professional away performance from Portishead, who now sit on three wins from three in the league—a perfect start to life in the Southern League. With no fixture this weekend, their next outing comes on Saturday 6th September when they host Melksham Town in the FA Trophy.
