Portishead comfortably beat Wellington 6-1, securing a tenth league win a row at Bristol Road, maintaining their 7 point lead at the top of the table.

It was an impressive start to the game by Portishead, taking only 6 minutes for the posset to find an opener. A saved Ethan Feltham shot was followed up by Kyle Egan, who expertly placed the ball through a sea of bodies into the bottom corner.

Only a few minutes later, Egan found himself with a brace after Ethan Feltham beat a Wellington defender before playing it across the six-yard box for a simple tap in, giving Portishead a huge advantage after only 16 minutes.

From then on Portishead continued to ramp up the pressure, with Townsend, Llewellyn and Murray going close to what would be an all important third. However, it wouldn’t be long before it was three, as Jay Murray smashed an effort off his left foot into the side netting, giving the keeper no chance.

Just after the half hour, after a defensive mix up from Wellington’s centre back and goalkeeper, the referee spotted a handball and gave a penalty to Portishead. On a hattrick, Kyle Egan stepped up but smashed the crossbar, giving Wellington a huge sigh of relief.

As the first half drew to a close, there was no respite for Wellington. Firstly a Posset free-kick routine caused confusion in the Wellington penalty area, as Mitch Osmond’s ball into the box nestled into the far corner of the net. Then Kyle Egan turned provider, his cross from the left was turned in by Ethan Feltham. Into injury time but there was still time for a Wellington consolation, after Hamish Hurst gifted Wellington’s Phil Mendonca the opportunity to round goalkeeper Shanks-Boon, giving Wellington a lifeline.

Few chances emerged in the second half, most notably efforts from Ethan Feltham and Calum Townsend both striking the bar from close range. However, with only 5 minutes left to play, a superb, chipped ball from Jay Murray found Ethan Feltham, who blasted the ball into the top right-hand corner, securing an all-important Posset victory at Bristol Road.

This result marked an important milestone for Portishead, the victory totalling a tenth league victory in a row, fuelled by MOTM Kyle Egan and an impressive attendance of 240.
