Scored 5. Conceded 0. Job Done.

While the rest of the team put in a shift at the other end of the pitch, Abi Footner made sure it was a flawless performance all-around from between the sticks. Making some key saves when called upon, she never made an error and kept us stable when Poole attacked.

Well deserved Abi! 👏

Struggling to pick your Player of the Match is a nice problem to have, but in the end there was one performance yesterday that stood out, and it was the attacking threat of our skipper Shannon Holloway!

With 2 goals, an assist, and a seemingly never ending drive to keep pushing, Shannon deservedly earned the award from the 5 goal thriller. Congrats Shan!

And as always, thank you to the Albion for sponsoring the award.

Elsewhere at Portishead Ladies...

The Thirds suffered a defeat at Bishops Lydeard yesterday afternoon after spending a few weeks unbeaten.

Another 2 goals for Emily Edwards, but unfortunately not enough to counter the host's scoring.

The fourths had a narrow 3-2 defeat away at unbeaten Weston Mendip, despite a spirited performance.

Skipper Hollie Forbes gave Posset the perfect start, exchanging passes with Ella Vowles before curling home a lovely finish.

The hosts gradually grew into the game and, with Portishead without a recognised goalkeeper, appeared under clear instructions to shoot from distance. One such effort brought Mendip level, before a well-worked move saw them take the lead.

But Posset weren't behind for long. Emily Mann played the ball forward to Ella Vowles just inside the Mendip half, who turned her defender and powered towards goal. As the goalkeeper rushed out to narrow the angle, Vowles held off the defender before calmly rolling the ball beneath the keeper to restore parity.

All square at the break, Portishead started the second half on the front foot, enjoying the better of the play but couldn't find the breakthrough.

As the half progressed, Posset began to tire, with just two substitutes available, and Mendip capitalised, catching the visitors on the break to snatch the winner.

A brave, battling performance against an unbeaten Weston Mendip side, and one that every member of the Fourths squad should be proud of. 🤍🖤

The U18 Girls made it four consecutive victories with a fantastic 4-3 comeback win against Downend at home!

Trailing 1–3, the girls showed incredible resilience and determination to fight back to 3–3 by half-time before completing the turnaround with a winning goal from Mia Corp. Isla Cripps x 2 and Manon Herzog were also on the scoresheet for a deserved victory.
