After many years’ service to the club, Chairman Adrian Green, Finance Director Kris Soni, Chip Wright and Andrew Jones have decided to step down from the board of directors of Portishead Town Football Club Limited.

Since their involvement the club has made huge positive strides forward, with both on the pitch success at all ages and levels as well as the major improvements that have been made to our home at Bristol Road. Their contribution has been immense.

This growth and development of the club has been augmented with their sound strategic financial decision making that has enabled the delivery of major projects that have had a significant benefit to all the members of our club. A small number of examples being:

1. The merger of Portishead Town FC, Portishead Juniors and GVG to create one of the largest community football clubs in the Southwest. We now have over 1100 members. This new structure enabled the newly merged club to finally meet the strict criteria for grant funding from various sources that in the last six years has seen the club make successful applications that now exceed over £1,250,000.
2. The successful negotiation of a 100-year lease with our key club partner Portishead Town Council, therefore securing our long-term future at Bristol Road.
3. The preparation of our Artificial Grass Pitch bid. This took two-years and involved over 400 hours of hard work mostly conducted during the working day, to deliver a successful bid that resulted in the installation of our fantastic first-class Artificial Grass Pitch.
4. The sound management of the investment in our club facilities that include the AGP in above, improving our grass pitches, our clubhouse and many more. This investment now exceeds £1,400,000.

The list could go on and on.

The financial cost to our club for all the above was £Nil, nowt, nothing, just dedication to the cause of improving our football club for all concerned.

These decisions have safeguarded the future of the club for all our members and the wider local community. They have left a legacy for future generations to enjoy sport and particularly football at Bristol Road.

Leadership of the board and the role of Chairman will transition to Grant Jefferies, a local resident and current member of the junior committee. There is much work to do in the off season as we set in place and action a plan of works to enhance and develop our facilities in order for all members to excel and enjoy their football. Grant will set out his immediate plans on Friday 1st May.
